TIMBERS EXPLODE AGAINST THUNDER
PORTLAND (6-22-2009)-- The Portland offense woke up with a THUNDEROUS bang last Friday against the Minnesota Thunder winning by a margin of 5-1.

George Josten scored early in the 4th minute while Takayuki Suzuki added another first half goal in the 32nd minute. The second half would see David Hayes score in the 64th, Mandjou Keita in the 88th , and Scot Thompson in the 90th minute (stoppage time).

The Timbers continue their season at home against Montreal on June 28th. Portland also faces the Seattle Sounders FC on July 1st in US Open Cup action (which will be the first match of the season for the Fan Page!) and then will have an exhibition against Bayern Munich II, after their Eugene match against EMFC, on July 2nd.

UNBEATEN STREAK AT TEN MATCHES!
PORTLAND (6-14-2009)-- Here I was worried about scoring and what happens, the Timbers run off 11 goals in nine matches not including a 4-1 win over Club America Reserves or Kitsap in the US Open Cup.

Portland has moved to 3rd place in the standings behind Charleston and Carolina. The Timbers are 3 points outright behind Carolina (7-2-2) and 4 points behind Charleston (6-0-6) with a match in hand. The Timbers lead Puerto Rico (5-3-4) by one point but also have a match in hand over the Islanders.

The team returns to action at Somona in US Open Cup action Tuesday and then returns home for a 8:00pm match against Minnesota on Friday. Friday's match is scheduled to be carried by Fox Soccer Channel.

TWO GUYS , FOUR GOALS!
PORTLAND (5-15-2009)-- Perhaps the Timbers only need Brian Farber and Ryan Pore. Each of them scored their second goals of the season as the Timbers got a rare win against the Rochester Raging Rhinos .

Farber scored late in the first half giving the home club the half-time lead, however, Rochester would tie the score at one all in the 66th minute despite being a man short.

Pore would score his second goal of the season with a penalty kick near the end of stoppage time giving the Timbers this huge win before heading off to Puerto Rico for two matches next week. Farber and Pore are the only Timbers to score so far this season but if the club continues winning who cares!?

Of special note former Timbers Andrew Gregor and Brent Sancho started for Rochester.

The Timber Mill has a match report and pictures posted here!

TEAM GETS DRAW AT CLEVELAND!
CLEVELAND (5-9-2009)-- The Portland Timbers were able to gain a point in the standings with another shutout draw Saturday this one against the Cleveland City Stars.

Goalkeeper Steve Cronin recorded his first shutout in goal.
unfortunetely for the team they just couldn't get the ball in the net despite 18 second half shots.

With the draw the Timbers record goes to 1-1-2 with 5 points. One point of concern so far this season might be that the team has only scored in one of four contests this year but if the team continues to take so many shots eventually something will give. Portland returns to action at home Thursday night against the Rochester Raging Rhinos at 8pm with the game to be televised
.

TIMBERS BREAK SCORING DROUGHT WITH WIN OVER CAROLINA !
PORTLAND (5-2-2009)-- After being held scorelss the first two regular season matches of the season the Portland Timbers scored two goals to down the Carlolina Railhawks 2-0.

Goalkeeper Chris Sietz was able to record the shutout with 9 saves to his credit. Brian Farber scored his first goal while Ryan Pore assisted and also added a goal of his own to lead the Timbers to their fourth shutout of Carolina at PGE Park since 2007.

The win evens Portland's record
at 1-1-1 with 4 points while Carolina falls to 3-1-1. The Timbers play next at Cleveland on Saturday night.
